Working with South African companies to accelerate their energy transition – by consuming less power more efficiently!
GreenYellow is a French multinational energy company that has become a global player in the energy transition sector – and is a true partner of companies across the world.
Thanks to its integrated platform of decarbonisation offers, GreenYellow provides customised solutions for energy efficiency, solar power, and demand response.
The company was founded in 2007 and has a presence across 4 continents and over 20 countries, offer services to commercial and industrial clients.
GreenYellow Global Overview
GreenYellow aims to develop, invest in, and operate green energy solutions that assist businesses in reducing their energy consumption and carbon footprint, as well as improving their cost savings.
The GreenYellow platform of offers includes, for example, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Utilities-as-a-Service (UaaS), Energy Efficiency Agreements (EEAs), Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), and Electric Mobility services.
Across these projects, GreenYellow takes care of everything – from financing to maintenance and monitoring – to ensure no large investment is required from its clients.
Mike Ilias, GreenYellow South Africa’s Country Director, explained that GreenYellow is majority-owned by an independent private equity investment company, called Ardian, which has over $156B (nearly R3 trillion) of assets under management or advised.
GreenYellow
GreenYellow has invested over 1.5 billion Euros (over R30 billion) into its technologies, and combines this with unrivalled energy sector expertise for the ultimate package.
Today, it has approximately 1,200 photovoltaic power plants installed or under construction in the field of centralised and decentralised energy production.
This represents a total installed capacity of around 1.3 gigawatts, and it has almost four times this capacity in projects that are still in progress.
GreenYellow has also signed 3,300 energy efficiency agreements with its customers, resulting in annual energy savings of almost 1,100 gigawatt hours.
What’s more, it has an equivalent number of opportunities in its pipeline, ready to be realized – and with its #ShiftEnergyServices offer, GreenYellow is ready to help you manage your energy contracts, too.
To date, GreenYellow already manages 3 terawatts of energy. This means that it has incredible experience not only in reviewing and optimising contracts, but also in monitoring over 5,000 consumption points – enabling it to control precisely where and how electricity and gas are used.
As for its emerging mobility business, GreenYellow already operates more than 500 electric charging stations and has double that number in the pipeline.
These results testify to GreenYellow’s expertise and experience in managing these energy sector activities – its team comprises seasoned professionals who are always ready to support its clients with their projects.
When did GreenYellow expand to South Africa?
GreenYellow established itself in South Africa over three years ago and has invested over R250 million to date, with another R1.5 billion pipeline currently in development.
It counts several large JSE-listed and multinational companies as clients and operates in several key vertical markets such as the commercial, industrial, and mining sectors, added Ilias.
What are the key benefits GreenYellow provides to its clients?
“We specialize in the energy sector and finance our projects on behalf of our clients,” said Ilias.
This allows GreenYellow to deliver the following services:
- A concrete response to meet each client’s energy transition requirements.
- A turnkey project, from design to operation, where GreenYellow take charge of the entire process to ensure a smooth and efficient transition.
- An investment entirely borne by GreenYellow, allowing your business to benefit from the advantages of the energy transition, without bearing the initial costs.
- Proactive management and maintenance of its solar power plants – resulting in guaranteed efficiency, reliability, and maximum profitability.
“We actively collaborate and financially participate with our clients in the creation and development of the systems we design and construct,” said Ilias.
Through the financial might of Ardian, GreenYellow is able to provide its clients with investments that require no upfront capital, greatly reducing the barrier to entry for businesses, as well as rapid project acquisitions and roll outs.
How does GreenYellow deliver superior-quality solutions?
“Our projects are meticulously designed based on world-class engineering standards,” said Ilias.
This ensures that GreenYellow projects are not only efficient and reliable, but also safe.
